RACHEL YOON


Rachel is a Korean-American Graphic Designer and Illustrator holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Rhode Island School of Design.

She enjoys integrating illustrations into her designs as well as exploring tactile and unconventional elements to craft narratives that resonate with those in her surroundings. Her curiosity lies in exploring the intersection of design for children and adults, aiming to generate new possibilities for play!

A series of posters aimed to engage the viewer and illustrate a topic solely through objects. With the idea of testing the meaning and configuration of objects through space, I decided to focus on scissors and exploit its properties to relate it with Korean homonyms. As Korean vocabulary consist of many homonyms, I wanted to explore the common characters and play around with the idea of “cutting” each of the words into two different meanings.
